The ferry is part of it

Three hours fifty from Piraeus on the fast boat, and why we tell guests not to fly to Santorini first.

Every spring someone writes to ask which airport is closest. The honest answer is none of them, and we have stopped apologising for it.

Three hours fifty

The fast boat leaves Piraeus at seven and again at half past three. It calls at Serifos, Sifnos and Milos, and each of them is worth leaning on the rail for.

People who fly to Santorini first and take the short crossing save an hour and miss the best part of the day.

What we do at the other end
